Michael is a Certified Residential Appraiser and is our President/CEO, Owner, and Chief Appraiser. Michael founded FWIWA in early 2009 and has worked in Real Estate Appraisals for over 17 years. He is a native to the Grand Strand and his family has been in the Grand Strand for multiple generations, giving him an even more in-depth knowledge of the area. Prior to working in the real estate appraisal industry, he worked in the hospitality industry which taught him excellent customer service skills and communication with wide variety of individuals. These are principles he has instilled in the company culture at FWIWA since its inception. At a young age Michael was fascinated with real estate and all the aspects of it. Being in this industry has led him to expanding into other real estate areas such as home building, real estate investment, real estate management, and property acquisition. With his extensive firsthand knowledge of these areas, it increases his overall knowledge of the marketplace and the ins and outs of areas that affect value. Outside of the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his Wife and two beautiful daughters. They spend their weekends traveling, boating, and enjoying our local amenities like the intracoastal waterway and our beautiful beaches.

Cade Johnson

Cade is a Certified Residential Appraiser who has been with our company since 2012. Cade currently serves on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition (SCPAC). He has been a licensed Realtor since 2005 and a graduate of the Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors Leadership Training Program. He is a native of the Grand Strand, having graduated from Socastee High School. Cade is graduate of Coastal Carolina University with a double major in marketing and management where he also played varsity soccer. When not in the office, Cade still enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, golfing, cooking, music, and is a Pannapictagraphist.

Rick is a Certified Residential Appraiser who has been with our company since 2020, however has been in the real estate appraisal industry for over 30 years. In addition to his career in real estate appraisals he has worked in real estate sales and has been a licensed agent since 1992 and broker since 1995. Rick became interested in real estate in his teen years when helping his brother-in-law build houses. He says that he first became interested in real estate appraisals while studying finance in college, because they offered a real estate section and that’s what started his over 30-year career. While in college he obtained his real estate license and when appraisers had to become licensed, he went back to school to obtain that license as well. When asked what he enjoys most about being in the real estate field he says that meeting customers and talking about their journeys gives him the most joy. In addition to the customers, he enjoys training and developing appraisers, while sharing his knowledge and expertise. He says after all these many years he has enjoyed the decision to go into this career. Rick and his wife of 42 years moved to the grand strand 2.5 years ago and still visit West Virginia as often as possible. When outside of the office Rick enjoys refereeing and attending sporting events, and spending time with his wife, two daughters and their families.

Stephanie obtained her certified residential appraiser license in early 2022, however grew up in the appraisal industry, as her father was an appraiser for over 20 years. She graduated with her Bachelor's degree from Coastal Carolina University. When asked what she enjoys about this field she said the diverse work opportunities, meeting people and learning about all the different types of properties in our market. Stephanie grew up in the grand strand and when not at the office enjoys going to the beach, boating, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

John Bankowski

John obtained his certified residential appraiser license in 2021 and started with our company in early 2022. John is originally from Connecticut but has lived in the Grand Strand for 25 years. Prior to working in real estate appraisals John worked in construction management and estimating. During this time is gained extensive knowledge in understanding and appreciating different perspectives of a situation and knowledge of construction. When asked what he enjoys most about this field he says that he most enjoys interacting with a variety of people on a day-to-day basis. When not at the office he enjoys spending time by the ocean and being with family, including his new grandson.

Bart is a licensed appraiser who obtained his license in 2018 and he has been with our company since 2010. Bart grew up in the grand strand, but lived in multiple states such as North Carolina, Alabama, and Arizona, before returning to the Grand Strand. Prior to working in the real estate appraisal industry Bart worked in retail management and internal auditing. While in these prior roles he gained skills such as meticulous attention to detail, relationship management, and providing exceptional customer experience. He says that what he most enjoys about his current role is that every day he discovers a new way to solve problems and finds ways to piece together the puzzle. When not in the office He enjoys spending time at the beach, boating, and watching sports.

Sean is an apprentice appraiser and started with our company in 2021. Sean has lived in the Grand Strand for 5 years. Prior to moving to the grand strand, he lived in Hickory, NC, however, was born in England while his father was stationed there in the US military. Prior to coming to work with us he most recently worked as a Superintendent for a national builder, and prior to that in the Customer Service, management role and then production manager for a national manufacturing company. He first became interested in working in the real estate appraisal field while working in the construction industry and thought that this would be a good transition while staying in a real estate related field. In his previous roles he gained extensive customer service experience which he says help address any issues or problems that may arise. In addition to these skills, during his time as a production manager in construction he gained extensive knowledge of the home building process from start to finish which he is able to apply to his day-to-day work at FWIWA. He says what he most enjoys about this field is helping people reach their dream of home ownership. When outside of the office he says that he most enjoys spending time with his wife, their dog and cat, and his 3 sons when they come into town.

William is an apprentice appraiser and started with our company in 2021. William is a native to the Grand Strand and has lived here his entire life. Prior to coming to our company, he worked in Retail, Hospitality and Restaurant Management. He says that his prior roles have taught him communication and problem-solving skills, helping him better deal with clients and issues when they arise. He became interested in becoming appraisers several years ago while discussing it with friends who work in the field. He says he most enjoys meeting new people daily and the constant challenge of something new every day. While outside of the office William enjoys spending time with family, Wife and 3 sons, and friends, relaxing on the beach, boating, watching sports and dining at some of our amazing restaurants in the Grand Strand.

He first became interested in becoming an appraiser, while researching careers that would allow him more flexibility to spend more time with his family. Ken is a Certified General Appraiser, who contracts with our office’s Commercial Appraisal Division. Ken lives in Florence, SC and has served South Carolina as a Realtor and Appraiser since 2003. He is originally from Marion, SC, making him a true native. Prior to coming into the Real estate and Appraisal industry he worked in the medical field. During his time in those prior roles he gained extensive management and leadership experience we he applies to his career to this day. Ken says that what he loves everything about the Real Estate industry from selling real estate, appraising, investing and currently he does all of these. While not selling real estate, appraising property or working with his real estate investments, he enjoys everything our great state has to offer. He enjoys boating, golfing, traveling and spending time with his family including his two daughters.

Audria Wagenknecht joined the For What It’s Worth Appraisals (FWIWA) team in April 2023. She earned her apprentice appraiser license in summer 2021, and hopes to complete that and pass her certification exam in 2024. Originally from Chicago, Wagenknecht has been living in Myrtle Beach since 2017, when she transferred to Coastal Carolina University to complete her junior and senior years and graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Audria has always found real estate to be a fascinating industry, thanks to family and close friends who have been involved with real estate in the Chicago and Myrtle Beach areas for many years. After college, Audria made the exciting career change to enroll in the state appraisal courses to begin her journey of becoming a certified real estate appraiser. Since beginning her experience in this field and with FWIWA, her experience has been nothing but inspiring and motivating to be a part of such a professional and diverse career. What Audria enjoys most about being an appraiser are the endless opportunities to involve herself within the community, working amongst highly knowledgeable peers, and new opportunities to learn about an ever-progressing market. “I truly could not have asked for a better experience here at For What It’s Worth,” she says. “In just the first handful of months being here, the knowledge and the experience that is in this office, and the professionalism is obvious. … I’m a very structured person, and I appreciate being around this very high-energy, positive, professional environment. Myrtle Beach native JonAnthony Hartley joined the FWIWA team as an appraiser apprentice in early September 2023. New to the appraisal industry, the 23-year-old graduated from Wofford College in 2022 as a finance major and business minor, with a focus on taking classes centered around real estate finance. He says he chose to work at FWIWA because of the great team of peers and many years of experience here. “What I enjoy about this profession is getting to meet new people every day, as well as being faced with new challenges and the attention to detail that each property entails,” says Hartley. Hartley’s family is in the hotel, restaurant, and hospitality business here in Myrtle Beach, so he practically grew up in the service and hospitality industry. When he’s not working, he likes to spend as much of his time outdoors as possible – especially in the water for inshore and offshore fishing along the coast of South Carolina.

Monika Polena-Trembley

Monika joined the FWIWA family in February 2022, and works in the administrative department, where she assists in the day-to-day affairs of running FWIWA. She was born and raised in Albania, living there until 2004, when she moved to the United States to join other members of her family here in Myrtle Beach. While in Albania, Monika received her BA in Business Administration and also went on to earn her master’s degree between 1994 and 1995 in England. Monika is happily married to Trey Trembley and has one son, Martin. Her hobbies include listening to music, weekly yoga classes, and spending time at the beach.
